The power of healing is amazing, and we hope that seeing these photos may help provide hope and comfort to someone who may have a similar experience.
This healing was made possible through the power of God's Love, the support of good friends , family, and neighbors, great doctors and nurses, and lots and lots of LOVE!! ~sally

A Word from John
Below are pictures taken of my face in the days following my accident. Some of the pictures may be disturbing. However, we are more struck with amazement with how quickly the healing process is occurring. Sally was concerned about whether I would really want people to see pictures that are somewhat of a private nature. However, the way I look at it, my face has never been bandaged and anyone could have seen it on these days. I guess you could say that my face has been public domain from the start.

So, to make a short story even longer, the following pictures show how quickly the healing process can occur.

Day 4 - Thursday Jan 9
This photo speaks for itself
Day 6 - Sat Jan 10
This was the day John got an infection in his right arm. Some of the blackened skin had already started coming off with the daily washings.

Day 9 - Tues, Jan 13
Haircut day - we buzzed John's charred hair off! The whitish stuff is dead skin, actually hardened, not soft like it appears.
Day 13 - Sat. Jan 17
Coffee mug irony - the cup says " It took me 40 years to look this good!". The difference from the previous photo is amazing to us! The skin does heal remarkably fast.

Day 15 - Mon. Jan 19
Isn't this remarkable? Hey, he cleans up pretty good when he shaves, doesn't he? The Docs told me two weeks ago this would happen - and I didn't believe them. But thank God they were right.
Week 5 - Early February
The face is still quite red. The forehead opened back up and became irritated from the Bacitracin. Skin was smooth before, now is a little rough.

Week 11 - March 28, 1998
Face is still pink with a areas of normal color. "Raccoon" look raises questions from strangers of "Doing a lot of skiing?" Some thick hypertrophic scarring on both temples. Still red around the ears. Best part -- hair is back to normal length!
Week 27 July 26, 1998
The coloring on my face & arms is about right.  The bumps on my temples are pretty much gone, but not the scar on the bridge of my nose.   My face may be a little darker after going to the gym or if I've just been out in the car.
John 4/22/2001 This is John, April 22, 2001.

Recovering nicely, we think!
We are very grateful for the wonder and blessing of healing.
